Catheterization of the right or left heart

Cardiologist

Cardiac catheterization is a relatively old method of hemodynamic exploration. It consists in introducing a probe into the various cardiac chambers to measure the pressures and the rate of oxygen saturation of the blood.
This exploration has several goals: confirm suspected heart disease with other tests; quantify the importance of the disease in question and its impact on cardiac function; look for a cause for a symptom (shortness of breath, signs of heart failure); get a check-up before heart surgery.
