Coronary angioplasty in Rabat

Cardiologist

Angioplasty, also called dilation. It is an invasive act because it requires the introduction of a small probe into an artery either at the crease of the groin (femoral artery) or at the level of the wrist (radial artery). It aims to restore arterial circulation by dilating the coronary stenosis or stenosis with an inflatable balloon. Coronary angioplasty with or without placement of an endocavity prosthesis (stent or endoprosthesis) is indicated primarily in the case of acute coronary syndrome, i.e. unstable angina (within 24 to 48 hours, in order to avoid progression to myocardial infarction) or during acute myocardial infarction (to unclog the occluded artery within an ideal period of 3 hours after the onset of symptoms) or in case of failure of thrombolysis (a drug to unclog the artery): this is called rescue angioplasty.
