Electrophysiological examination / Radiofrequency ablation

Cardiologist

An electrophysiological exam is a specialized procedure that allows your doctor to clearly visualize the electrical signals inside the heart to determine where the abnormal heart rhythm is coming from. Standard catheter ablation is a related procedure that aims to correct problems with the electrical conduction of the heart. Radio frequency waves are used to destroy the small areas of cell tissue causing the abnormality. Catheter ablation is often performed immediately after the electrophysiological examination.
