Endodontics is a specialty of dentistry which aims to treat the inside of the tooth. It takes care of pathologies that affect the periapical bone and dental pulp and that cause infection of the tooth. Endodontic treatment involves cleaning the infected tissue with specific equipment to eliminate the bacteria found there. In some cases surgery is required to open a root canal and remove infected tissue from the pulp.
