Nail fungus are infections caused by fungi that parasitize the nail. The big toe nail becomes contaminated from an inter-digital fissure. The mycological sample makes it possible to confirm the diagnosis and to start the treatment which is based on an oral antimycotic and a local varnish treatment continued for several months. Sometimes the nail has to be surgically removed - In some cases, the big toe nail has to be removed, this is the case with mold onychomycosis or after failure of a properly conducted treatment.
