Endoscopy Sphincterotomy in Casablanca

Gastroenterologist

Sphincterotomy mainly involves the sphincter of Oddi, a circular layer of muscle tissue located at the end of the common bile duct, which leads bile from the liver and gall bladder to the small intestine, and the anal sphincter, a circular layer of muscle tissue located around the canal of the anus.
Oddian sphincterotomy is indicated when a stone blocked in the common bile duct interferes with the flow of bile. It consists of incising the common bile duct at the height of the sphincter, to remove the stone.
Anal sphincterotomy is especially indicated in the event of anal fissure (ulceration of the skin near the anus, due to spasm or sclerosis - invasion of fibrous tissue - of the underlying sphincter).
