This test allows a determination of iron in the urine (Desferal test).
The indications are:
-Acute iron poisoning
   *Any symptomatic patient with more than transient minor symptoms
   *Patients with signs of lethargy, severe abdominal pain, hypovolaemia, or acidosis
   *Patients with an x-ray showing multiple abdominal opacities
   *Any symptomatic patient with serum iron levels above 300-350 µg / dL regardless of the total iron binding capacity
   *Aluminum poisoning in chronic renal failure on dialysis
   *Hemochromatosis, hemosiderosis
