They are obtained by applying painless electrical stimulation to the wrist or ankle. The duration of the examination varies from one to two hours depending on the number of nerves stimulated. By placing the electrodes at different stages, they allow the study of the functioning of the pathways of sensitivity in the peripheral nerves, nerve roots, spinal cord, brainstem, thalamus and parietal cortex. They are most often requested in cases of suspected suffering of the spinal cord or to authenticate a sensitivity disorder.
