MIBG is taken up by specialized cells called neuroendocrine cells.

- Detection, localization, staging, extension assessment, monitoring and detection of recurrences, neuroectodermal tumors deriving from the neural crest;

pheochromocytomas (Tumor of the adrenal gland)
neuroblastoma (tumor of immature nerve cells)
ganglioneuroblastoma
ganglioneuromas
paragangliomas
carcinoid tumors
medullary thyroid carcinoma
Merkel cell tumors
- Search for ectopic localization of tumors of neuroectodermal origin.
- Evaluation of the post-chemotherapy therapeutic effect or the quality of surgical excision of tumors of neuroectodermal origin.
- Assessment before therapeutic MIBG of tumors of neuroectodermal origin.
