Ectopic pregnancy (EEG) is a pregnancy that develops outside the uterine cavity. Most often, the egg, too large, could not travel the proboscis. Ultrasound and laparoscopy confirm the diagnosis.
Treatment is urgent:
-Surgical resection is usually undertaken under anesthesia and as an emergency. It is most often performed by laparoscopy or by abdominal surgery. The goal: to open the proboscis and extract the egg or remove it completely.
- One or more doses of methotrexate, a folic acid antagonist, for certain small unruptured ectopic pregnancies, given by injections.
