Ovariectomy/ Ovarian resection in Guelmim

Oophorectomy (removal of the ovary) is the removal of one or two ovaries in women. They are removed if there is a cyst or suspected infection or cancer. A woman can still have children with only one ovary. The operation is performed under anesthesia.
It can be either:
- Resection of an ovarian cyst
- Partial oophorectomy
- Total unilateral or bilateral oophorectomy
Excision of the ovary may be accompanied by salpingectomy.
A salpingectomy is the operation to remove one or both fallopian tubes. These tubes are two pipes that connect the ovaries to the uterus, they are used to transport the eggs for fertilization. They are removed in case of infection or to prevent future cancers. The operation is not too heavy but requires hospitalization.
