It is a therapeutic procedure used in ophthalmology, consisting of applying a laser beam to the deepest structure of the eye, the retina, with the aim of producing a therapeutic burn in a selected area. The aim is to treat various eye diseases by destroying ischemic (lacking oxygen), exudative (abnormal deposits), proliferating (with proliferation of new blood vessels) or tumor areas.
