It is a therapeutic procedure used in ophthalmology, consisting of applying a laser beam to the deepest structure of the eye, the retina, with the aim of producing a therapeutic burn in a selected area.
The aim is to treat various eye diseases by destroying ischemic (lacking oxygen), exudative (abnormal deposits), proliferating (with proliferation of new blood vessels) or tumor areas.
It allows the treatment of:
Retinal detachment
Retinal venous occlusion
Proliferative diabetic retinopathy
Intraocular haemorrhage
