Decompression of a neurovascular conflict in the ponto-cerebellar angle in Casablanca

Otolaryngologist (ENT)

This is a surgical intervention indicated in disabling nerve damage related to compression of a nerve by one or more intracranial vessels (arteries or veins) which have been evolving for several months to several years. The disorders are related to the consequences of chronic mechanical compression of the nerve by the responsible vessel. Depending on the nerve affected, it may be either involuntary contractions of the face, or pain in the face, dizziness, deafness or tinnitus. The goal of the intervention is to remove contact and compression of the nerve, moving while retaining the vessel (s) involved. Depending on the nerve and the vessels involved, the surgeon usually places an interposing material between them. To do this, the nerve and the vessels must be approached in the pontocerebellar angle or more rarely in the internal auditory canal.
