It makes it possible to measure nasal resistance in inspiration and expiration, it also makes it possible to evaluate NASAL OBSTRUCTION (4 anatomical areas may be involved: nasal valve / inferior lateral cartilage / inferior turbinate / nasal septum).
The measurements are made before and after local vasoconstrictors, after blowing the nose. A sensor is placed in the nasal cavity (nasal nozzle) which ventilates and another sensor is placed in the nasal cavity which does not ventilate (the obstruction allows the pressure in the choana to be measured). A measurement is therefore obtained of the pressure variation of the air current entering and leaving the nasal cavity.
