Radiopelvimetry

Radiologist

Radiopelvimetry is an X-ray of the pelvis of pregnant women. By face and profile shots, it provides indications concerning "the circumference of the axes of the mother's pelvis" as well as indications concerning the position of the baby's head, which must be bent with the chin on the chest. . When there is a doubt about a possible dystocia, that is to say a difficult childbirth, an X-ray examination is carried out to measure the dimensions of the pregnant woman's pelvis: radiopelvimetry. It is a question of observing the mechanical conditions of the work. Indeed, the maternal pelvis must be large enough to allow the baby's head to pass through during labor and delivery.
