Surgical treatment of varicocele

Urologist

Varicocele is a large varicose dilation (varicose veins) of the veins of the spermatic cord (located in the bursa, above and around each testicle). Treatment for varicocele should be offered if all of the following conditions are present: 1 / The varicocele is palpable; 2 / the couple's infertility is documented; 3 / There is no problem with female infertility or it is potentially curable; 4 / There is at least one anomaly in the sperm parameters on the spermogram. Most experts perform inguinal or sub-inguinal surgery using magnifying glasses or an operating microscope, in order to preserve arteries and lymphatics and reduce the risk of failure or recurrence.
