The adrenal glands are located above the corresponding kidney. These are so-called endocrine glands that produce adrenal hormones (cortisol, aldosterone, stress hormones (especially adrenaline) and a small fraction of the sex hormones (estrogen and androgens)) involved in controlling blood pressure, l ionic balance of the blood, the use of water in the body, the use of glucose and the stress response.
