A benign cyst on one of the kidneys is a pocket of fluid. The surgical treatment that is offered involves removal of the wall of the cyst. This operation may be necessary because in the event of pain or complications such as secondary infections. Some cysts, if they are asymptomatic and uncomplicated, can simply be watched for. A sclerotic puncture may also be offered.
