The FibroScan® examination is a technique which makes it possible to determine two physical parameters in the liver: the hardness of the liver (expressed in kilopascal: kPa) and the ultrasonic attenuation (expressed in decibel per meter: dB / m) without penetrating to the inside the human body.
The hardness provides information on the possible presence of hepatic fibrosis. Ultrasound attenuation provides information on the presence and extent of excess fat in the liver.
