Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA or MRI angiography) is a minimally invasive examination, which allows the analysis of all the supraortic trunks and does not require either intra-arterial catheterization or injection of iodine products. Angio-MRI is the basic anatomical examination in the assessment of carotid stenosis, whether asymptomatic or symptomatic. In the latter case, MRI-angiography can be combined with brain MRI in the same examination room, which reduces the overall time taken to assess cerebral ischemia.
