Abdomino-pelvic amputation of the rectum (Non-conservative proctectomy) in Marrakech

The removal of all or part of the rectum or proctectomy sometimes addresses benign diseases (polyps, inflammatory diseases, endometriosis) and often cancers. The aim of the operation is to remove the diseased segment of the rectum (most of the time with the most distal part of the colon) while preserving what can be preserved lower down. They consist in removing the anal canal and the sphincter apparatus in addition to the rectum and end with an artificial anus ("pocket") definitive colic (or left iliac colostomy)
