Bronchial provocation test in Casablanca

Pulmonologist

The bronchial provocation test is a medical examination used in the diagnosis of asthma and certain forms of allergies (edema), performed as part of functional respiratory investigations.
It aims to determine whether or not the patient is suffering from airway hyperresponsiveness.
This test is carried out in several stages. It requires the use of an agent (irritant) which can be either histamine or methacholine.
The test is considered positive if the FEV1 (maximum expiratory volume in the first second, i.e. the maximum volume that a subject can expire in one second by performing a forced expiration) of the subject decreases by more than 20% of its initial value.
