Surgery for hepatic tumors and cysts (Hepatectomy / Lobectomy) in Casablanca

Visceral and digestive surgeon

The removal of a portion of the liver is intended for patients with benign (adenoma, cyst) or malignant (cancer) pathologies. The goal of the operation is to remove a portion of the damaged liver while preserving the rest of the liver parenchyma which is healthy. Depending on the portion of the liver that is removed, we talk about anatomical resection (if an entire segment is resected) or atypical (only part of a segment is removed). Major hepatectomies involve the resection of at least 3 segments of the liver. Hepatectomies are well codified and common interventions but remain heavy interventions. The quality and quantity of the liver remaining after surgery depends on the possibilities of excision. Additional examinations are therefore carried out to assess the functioning and volume of the liver.
