- On the upper eyelids, the excess skin gives an unsightly wrinkled appearance. It weighs down the eyelids and helps to close the palpebral slits. In extreme cases, this excess skin can pass over the eyelids and partially amputate the field of vision. Add to this the more or less marked protrusion of a small ball of fat at the level of the upper part near the nose (fatty hernia). Surgical removal of excess skin and internal fatty pockets is accomplished through an incision concealed in a natural crease in the upper eyelid and crow's feet.
- In the lower eyelids, excess skin gives a withered appearance to the eyelid. Excess fat is responsible for "bags under the eyes". The bags are removed through a trans-conjunctival incision located on the far side of the eyelid on the side of the eye. The excess skin is removed through an incision located 2 mm below the eyelashes.
