"B-mode" (US) ultrasound has long been the test of choice for rapidly assessing kidney morphology with grayscale images. Doppler allowing visualization of intra and extrarenal vascular structures.
These tests help in the diagnosis of kidney disease. They are also performed in our patients during emergency situations (severe deterioration of renal function, pain in the renal compartment, suspicion of hydronephrosis, appearance of blood in the urine (macro-hematuria).
