Rapid surgical expansion / bone distraction of the jaw

Distraction such as surgical expansion is a process that gradually lengthens the length of the bone (bone creation). A fracture is performed surgically and a bone callus forms. After a few days the bone callus is stretched using a device that is activated regularly. This therapeutic method can be used in the maxilla (upper jaw) or in the mandible (lower jaw) if the latter are too small.
