Screening for secondary hypertension

Nephrologist

Hormonal tests are carried out as part of the screening for secondary hypertension: measurements of the activity of plasma renin, plasma aldosterone and 24-hour urinary excretion of aldosterone.

These parameters are used to diagnose, among other things:

-a possible stenosis of the renal artery
-a primary or secondary hyperaldosteronism
- hypermineralocorticisms.
