It includes acoustic acoumetry and instrumental acoumetry. Acoumetry is the testing of the patient's hearing by asking them to repeat certain words, whispered and in a normal voice, moving further and further away from them. It is measured from what distance the patient is able to correctly repeat the words. Acoumetry sound is only used for simple screening.
Acoumetry is a qualitative examination of the hearing making it possible to make the diagnosis and quickly distinguish the type of deafness or hypoacusis from which a patient suffers, before performing a more in-depth quantitative audiometric examination.
