It consists in the opening (-tomy) of the frontal sinus with an approach by the nasal cavities (without external incision). It is performed by video-assistance and, depending on the situation, with computer-assisted navigation which allows the surgeon to compare, in real time, the estimated position of his instruments in the operating field with their virtual position on a preoperative CT scan of the face and with millimeter accuracy. This surgery is most often proposed for a confinement disease of the frontal sinus responsible for infectious sinusitis, pain ... and also for diagnosis (biopsies) and treatment of tumors.
