Lacrimal bypass surgery for tearing (Lacorhinostomy)

Ophthalmologist

Lacorhinostomy is a procedure involving the tear ducts. It is intended for patients who no longer have lacrimal canaliculi (accidents, burns, skin and mucous membrane disease, ocular herpes, etc.) or following certain facial paralysis. Lacorhinostomy is indicated in troublesome tearing when no other conventional operation (intubation, dacryocystorhinostomy, etc.) is possible. It is often better to wait until adulthood. The intervention consists in obtaining a drainage of tears in the nasal cavity by bypassing the normal way of elimination of tears.
