This eye disease gradually results in destruction of the optic nerve. It thus deteriorates the visual field in an insidious way with a threat of total loss of vision. Among its many causes, the most common and the most important is the existence of too much pressure in the eye. Laser trabeculoplasty, also called trabeculoretraction, can be performed using an argon laser or a doubled YAG laser (selective laser trabeculoplasty or SLT).
